Entrance doors · Brampton
Glass entrance doors, closers and locks for businesses
A plaza door that bangs the frame, or a warehouse entrance that scrapes the sill. Usually one part is to blame: the closer, a pivot, the lock or a glass panel, and the door itself can stay. We are a free referral service. We pass your request to an independent local pro who repairs commercial doors, and follow up so it doesn't go quiet.
- One worn part, not a new entrance
- Before- or after-hours work on request
- Glass and hardware quoted together

What the door is doing
Door slamming or not latching? Closers and pivots
A closer is the arm and cylinder at the top that pulls the door shut. Pivots are the pins it swings on.
Slams into the frame
The closer's speed has drifted. A small adjustment often fixes it; an oily closer body usually means replacement.
Stops short of the latch
The final swing has its own latch setting on the closer. If adjusting it doesn't help, the strike may be out of line.
Drags, sags or scrapes
A worn or loose pivot lets the door drop and wear the sill. A pivot is a much smaller job than a door.
Locking up
Locks, panic hardware and handles
Panic hardware, which pros call an exit device, is the push bar that opens the door from inside. When it sticks or won't hold the door locked, the cause is often a worn latch or a strike that no longer lines up because the door has sagged. Fix the sag and the lock often works again.
Broken door glass
Reglazing a glass door
A cracked or broken panel in an aluminum-framed door can usually be replaced while the frame, closer and handle stay.
Secure the opening
Plywood or a temporary panel goes in so the business can lock up. See emergency board-up.
Measure and order
Door glass is generally safety glass, tempered or laminated, under the Ontario Building Code. It is made to size after measuring.
Set the new glass
The panel goes in with new gaskets, and the pro checks that the door still closes and latches.

Automatic doors
Automatic operators: when a specialist is needed
Automatic doors have motors, sensors and safety settings. A faulty operator needs a specialist in automatic entrances, so tell us the door is automatic and we'll look for the right trade.
After a break-in
Hardware after a break-in: closers, exit devices, locks
A forced door is rarely just glass. Look for a bent closer arm, a loose lock cylinder, a twisted exit device or a torn strike, and photograph each before anything is removed. The storefront page has the full first-steps list.
What affects the quote
What shapes a door repair quote
The pro will ask about these:
- Which part has failed: closer, pivot, lock, exit device or glass
- Glass size and type, if a panel is being replaced
- Whether the frame is bent or the door has sagged
- After-hours or weekend work to avoid closing
Photos of the door, closer and lock, plus your hours, help. Ask for a written, itemized quote.
Industrial units
Warehouse and industrial front-office doors
Brampton's logistics and manufacturing buildings often have one glass entrance at the front office, used by drivers, staff and visitors. A slamming closer there is worth fixing early. Managers of several units can use our property manager page.
Timing
Planning around business hours
Say when you open and close. Closer and pivot work takes the door out of use for a while, so ask about before-opening or after-closing work. For the rest of the front, see commercial glass.
